Home to the Danish Handball League men’s team, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, and more recently, the Silkeborg-Voel KFUM women’s team, JYSK Arena hosts a wide range of sporting and cultural events. The Silkeborg Municipality wanted to install a dynamic and colorful lighting system in the arena’s foyer and glass façade to indicate which team is playing in the arena at any given time, as well as enhance the atmosphere of the lounge after matches and during events, such as conferences and concerts.
Jens S. G. Dalby, Advisor for Energy and Maintenance in Silkeborg Municipality, developed a lighting concept resembling a small version of the Allianz Arena installation in Munich, where the façade lighting displays red when Bayern Munich plays on home court. Having previously experienced Color Kinetics user-friendly lighting systems, Jens contacted Signify Certified System Integrator, Vanpee A/S, to collaborate on the project.
Completed in 2020, the solution includes Vaya Linear LP G2, RGBW LED luminaires mounted in the ceiling 1-3 m (3-9 ft) apart. Color Kinetics ColorBlast IntelliHue Powercore gen4 luminaires replaced five existing spotlights in the large glass section facing Ansvej, while Vaya Linear LP G2 luminaires were placed in the glass section facing the parking lot to create cohesion among the selected fixtures. iPlayer 3 enables arena staff to easily select from a variety of light scenes programmed by Vanpee, so they can choose the right light for each event.
“We are very satisfied with the Color Kinetics solution, and I know that it is being actively used by the staff in the arena.” -Jens S. G. Dalby, Advisor for Energy and Maintenance, Silkeborg Municipality
