Aviation is a vital part of the Scandinavian infrastructure. SAS maintains the highest frequency of departures to and from Scandinavia and connects smaller regional airports with larger hubs. As part of Star Alliance, they fly customers to 1,300 destinations worldwide, making life easier for Scandinavia´s frequent flyers.
SAS has been implementing a new exclusive lounge concept in their airport lounges across Scandinavia. The new concept includes a significant upgrade to design and energy optimization, while maintaining a relaxed, Nordic atmosphere. The idea behind the concept was to give their lounges a more modern look, transform them into energizing spaces, and create an ‘experience walk’ through an innovation hub in the lounge where customers can display their latest technologies and innovations.
In the Summer of 2018, it was time for the 3,000 sq m (32,000 sq ft) gold lounge at the Copenhagen Kastrup Airport to be renovated. As part of the upgrade, SAS wanted to use the latest lighting innovations. Color Kinetics OneSpace Prefab (now specified with OneSpace gen2) was selected to re-enforce this concept in the innovation hub of the lounge.
Four OneSpace panels, 1200 x 2400 mm (4 x 8 ft), with a light output of 4000 K, are mounted as a centerpiece, side by side and suspended from the 16 m (52 ft) high ceiling. OneSpace not only creates an inviting space, it enables a clearer view of customers’ innovations by delivering bright, glare-free light that eliminates shadows.
