Experience the the joyous sensation of riding a wave.
He'e nalu is inspired by the art of surfing and delivers to all who experience it the joyous sensation of riding a wave.
The name of this mesmeric artwork derives from the Hawaiian word for the revered art of surfing, He'e nalu, which in English translates evocatively as 'wave sliding'.
The installation is formed by two walls of light-filled columns that create a passageway washed with changing shades of blue and orange, reflecting the colors of the ocean at different times of the day. Coastal sounds are bounced from wall to wall, creating the enclosed sense of a wave tunnel.
As visitors move through the passageway they progress along a wave of light and sound, at times it seems to travel towards them — at others it rolls away.
