Fjord Oslo is a free art festival that transforms the harbor promenade in the center of Oslo into a large outdoor exhibition of light. Signify (formerly known as Philips Lighting) participates with the installation LIGH3ENCE designed by Silje Thorsager Østby.
The founders of the festival describe it as follows: Fjord Oslo was founded with a desire to create a positive, inclusive, social and open cultural event for everyone in Oslo city, and bring people and art to the streets in the autumn darkness.
As the only light supplier, Signify was asked to participate, and our contribution was designed by our own Silje Thorsager Østby.
LIGH3ENCE
By embarking on a mysterious journey through light and mist on the Contraskjæret, the light installation explores the optical phenomenon Brockenspekter that occurs on foggy mountain sides or in the forest. Drawing inspiration from this amazing phenomenon, Ligh3ence takes you on an adventurous experience, creating a mysterious and engaging play of light, shadow and fog in changing white hues that harmonize with the movement of the trees.
"We want to show that Signify's lighting systems are flexible and that it can also be used to create artistic and dynamic installations, which in this case will be shown during the Fjord Oslo Light Arts Festival." - Silje Thorsager Eastby, LIGH3ENCE designer
She continues: “Ligh3ence came from the fact that we use three lighted elements, which together and individually, form an entrance, and a mysterious journey up the stepped path with the towering lighted trees in the background. This creates a harmonious and balanced synergy between the elements using Signify's own color palette - switching from green to blue, with white touches, in a dynamic and vibrant rhythm. "
