In a city that's unmistakable for its bright lights, Harrah's Atlantic City Resort & Casino wanted a unique look for its new 28-story Bayview Tower expansion. To rise above the crowd, the project required the broad, high-tech capabilities of intelligent LED lighting from Color Kinetics.

The project was designed and programmed by Stone Mountain Lighting Group, which conceptualized bands of programmable LED lights that wrap around each separate level of the building. As a result, 4,100 linear feet of iColor® Fresco was installed to generate bands of light that perform a wide variety of specialized lighting effects, including intricate color chases, sunburst patterns, rainbow effects, dramatic color wipes, and a large scale simulation of the American flag for special occasions.

iColor Fresco is designed for wet and damp locations with a protective housing of rugged, extruded anodized aluminum - so it is functionally, yet stylishly, at home in both indoor and outdoor applications. The intricate patterns on the tower are possible due to iColor Fresco's ability to be addressed and controlled in increments as small as one foot. To bring their entire vision to life, Stone Mountain Lighting Group developed a customized, programmable control system to enable the design team to conceptualize and program the animated lighting displays, controlling the 4,100 feet of iColor Fresco via 11 separate DMX universes.

According to Dave Jonas, president and general manager of Harrah's Atlantic City, the bold, new lighting effects "have forever changed the skyline of Atlantic City."
