Chicago theater updates image with LED lighting

With Color Kinetics, the most colorful show in town doesn't need a ticket. At the Goodman Theatre, Chicago's oldest and largest non-profit theater, the show begins before you even step foot in the door. This Chicago landmark comes to life with the help of Color Kinetics full spectrum digital lighting. The front side of the three-story building, located at 170 North Dearborn Parkway, is comprised of 96 windows each containing two Color Kinetics’ ColorBlast luminaires radiating rich colors and color-changing effects. A rotunda at the side of the top floor is illuminated with 240 iColor Cove (now specified with PureStyle Compact Powercore, IntelliHue) luminaires also programmed to generate a variety of colors and lighting effects.

Controlled with a Horizon professional lighting console, the building magically changes colors throughout the day, stunning passersby with an array of colors and effects. With Color Kinetics intelligent Chromacore digital lighting technology, the theatre has become a dynamic centerpiece in downtown Chicago, providing its designers with unlimited creative possibilities such as a countdown for New Year's Eve, a festive holiday tree, and a replica of the American flag to celebrate the 4th of July, as well as morphing rainbows and waves of colors.
