Vibrant casino becomes a beacon for miles

Lighting designers Visual Terrain transformed the undulating façade of the new Choctaw Nation casino in Durant, Oklahoma, into a vibrant beacon, visible for miles. Selected for their long source life, low power consumption, minimal maintenance costs, and digital control, 150 ColorReach Powercore luminaires (now specified with ReachElite) flood the exterior of the casino with dynamic, full-spectrum light. A special array of red, green, amber, and blue LEDs in each Reach Powercore luminaire produces an expanded color range to satisfy the lighting designers’ specific creative requirements.

The Reach Powercore luminaires are mounted in groups of six on custom-designed sawhorse-style brackets, positioned approximately 25 ft from the façade. Luminaires are outfitted with 8°, 23°, or 43° spread lenses, and aimed to paint the bottom, middle, and top thirds of the building with a uniform intensity of light. To bring the building to life, seventeen different light shows alternate every half hour throughout the night.
