First-class lighting for university car park

The University of Leeds wanted to show off the dramatic external cladding of the new multi story car park (MSCP) in the Leeds University campus next to the busy A58m inner ring round. Funds were limited so a simple scheme was proposed, just lighting the most viewed two levels and grazing the cladding from below.

Color Kinetics ColorGraze MX4 Powercore, RGBW luminaires were chosen to graze the unique texture of the cladding. There are 21 ColorGraze luminaires mounted on specially made bracket arms to ensure the uplighting catches as much of the concaves as possible.

Light shows are remotely uploaded via the university network, with a Pharos controller allowing for easy control of the new system. This allows the university to change the colors displayed on the facade to coincide with campus events or holidays.
