The Tianjin museum, which covers an area of over 40,000 square meters, is one of the country's largest. It houses the collections of the former Tianjin Art Museum and the Tianjin Historical Museum. The unique architecture of the museum, designed by Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu, resembles that of a swan spreading its wings, making it one of the city's most iconic buildings.

As part of a renovation project, the museum needed to replace and enhance its existing interior lighting fixtures. So it turned to Signify for general illumination and accent lighting in one convenient solution.

Signify recommended LED downlights for the hallways and 1600 m (5,250 ft) of Vaya Cove White 4000 K (now specified with Vaya Free Form) for alcoves and along staircases throughout the entire museum. The sustainable products deliver the right amount of light while providing significant energy and cost savings.
