Constructed in the late 1800’s and heritage listed, the University of Queensland building at 308 Queen Street is a beautiful and convenient central hub for students and alumni to meet, study, and work in the heart of Brisbane’s central business district (CBD).
As part of a recent project to restore the historic structure, Signify platinum partner (CSI) bluebottle supplied and commissioned a lighting solution for its spectacular atrium dome, including a catenary lighting system and diffuser with custom color control.
Completed in July 2022, the dome features Color Kinetics FlexElite RGBW lighting and a Dynalite control system. Show control is provided by a Pharos VLC 50 DMX controller, enabling the facility manager to tailor shows for different events. Color Kinetics CM-550 48V CA4, IP66 delivers integrated data and power to the system.
Color Kinetics products were selected for their performance, reliability, and suitability to achieve the project’s unique design objectives. Taking great care to preserve the expansive glass ceiling dome, 1,301 nodes of Color Kinetics FlexElite RGBW, spaced 260 mm (10 in) apart, were mounted on engineered catenary wires above the dome.
