
Color Kinetics flagship technology, called Chromacore, leverages a layer of digital intelligence to control LEDs, generating millions of colors and a myriad of lighting effects. Chromacore is at the heart of all CK intelligent LED systems. The underlying technology which broke ground as an unprecedented means for adding intelligence such as a microprocessor, network address or user interface to LED illumination devices, was recognized with its first U.S. patent in January 2000, a European patent in 2002, an Asian patent in Hong Kong in 2003, an Australian patent also in 2003, and a Canadian patent in 2004.

 Color Kinetics continues to set new standards in intelligent LED illumination with the development of patented Chromasic, a custom designed microchip that integrates power, communications and control to enable next-generation digital lighting systems and networks. Chromasic is the "brain" of next generation LED lighting systems that make possible a host of previously unimaginable applications. By combining digital LED control and communication technology in a single silicon chip, Chromasic enables a highly controllable lamp that requires as few as four components to generate 64 billion color combinations within the space of a pencil eraser. Color Kinetics patented DIMand™ technology allows LED lighting devices to interpret standard dimming signals in a pre-determined manner, essentially allowing the dimmer to become a control interface to the device. DIMand technology also properly regulates and controls the power provided by dimming circuits so that LED lighting devices that employ this technology are compatible with a range of new and existing dimming systems.

Optibin is an advanced proprietary production binning optimization process that minimizes the effects of the inherent variance and inconsistency of the "bins" delivered by LED manufacturers to achieve optimal color consistency in Color Kinetics' products.
