Addressing and Configuration

Fixture Addressing
Addressing is the process of programming lighting fixtures with light numbers or DMX addresses so that a playback controller can properly route light output data. QuickPlay Pro allows you to assign light numbers or DMX addresses according to hard-coded fixture serial numbers.

All addressable fixtures from Philips Color Kinetics are factory-set to light number 1. Addressing is not necessary for installations displaying the same output on all fixtures, unless the fixtures were previously addressed for use in another installation.

PDS Configuration
Certain fixtures are not programmed directly with light numbers or DMX addresses. Instead, each PDS (power / data supply) receives a base light number and automatically configures all connected fixtures. QuickPlay Pro allows you to set base light numbers using the PDS Configuration tool.

Addressing and Configuration using QuickPlay Pro
QuickPlay Pro is the new multi-purpose software tool from Philips Color Kinetics. Designed for use with the complete line of CK Intelligent lighting fixtures, power / data supplies, and data enablers, QuickPlay Pro combines the functionality of multiple addressing and configuration tools into one easy-to-use module.

Available as a free download for Windows® and Mac environments, QuickPlay Pro replaces QuickPlay 1.1, SAS (Serial Addressing Software), iPlayer 3 SAS, EtherSAS, iColor Accent Powercore SAS, and the PDS-60ca Configuration Tool.

     With QuickPlay Pro, you can:
  • Use serial numbers to program fixtures with light numbers or DMX addresses
  • Assign base light numbers to power / data supplies, allowing automatic fixture configuration
  • Test light numbers and DMX channels
  • Demonstrate a lighting system using four built-in light shows: fixed color, color wash, rainbow, and streak

To display color-changing light shows, you must address and configure all RGB fixtures as well as certain installations combining both RGB and iW fixtures. Addressing and configuration details are specific to your lighting system installation.
