When Showboat Atlantic City decided to revamp the interior design of its Mardi Gras Casino, Stone Mountain Lighting Group devised a glowing scheme based on the creative freedom of intelligent LED illumination from Color Kinetics.

The Showboat management team was already convinced of the benefits of Color Kinetics' LED systems, based on the tremendous response to parent company Harrah's exterior lighting of the Bayview Tower in Atlantic City - also designed and illuminated by the Stone Mountain Lighting Group and Color Kinetics.

For the Mardi Gras Casino, Stone Mountain Lighting Group was asked to add energy and excitement to the entry area in order to distinguish the space while also reducing the existing level of lighting maintenance. The team decided that Color Kinetics' LED-based systems perfectly achieved all of the project's goals, providing long life and energy efficiency while creating a truly high-impact end result. To produce the desired lighting effects, nearly 300 linear feet of iColor® Cove was installed, coupled with 36 ColorBlast® systems that wash the space with color and movement. The architectural details of the space proved perfect for colorful accents in a variety of recesses, angles, and open spaces.

The lighting effects are easily programmed, stored and triggered with a combination of Color Kinetics' ColorPlay® authoring software and iPlayer® 2. Six aesthetic effects were programmed by the Stone Mountain team to create a cycle of subtle yet memorable light shows that enhance the room's ambience.

Thanks to the inspiring impact of Color Kinetics' LED illumination systems, the colorful spirit of Mardi Gras is alive and well in Atlantic City!
