The elegantly lit Lassen residence blends soothing colors and unique designer touches that complement the home’s picturesque location in Kapalua, Hawaii. Noted interior designer Steven Cordrey applied Color Kinetics’ intelligent LED lighting throughout the contemporary space, from the grand hall, to the master bedroom, to the home theater, creating a colorful and ever-changing environment for the homeowner, artist Christian Lassen.

The grand hall boasts towering ceilings that are illuminated by iColor® Cove, which is designed to bring saturated color and dynamic lighting effects to alcove and accent spaces. The 6- and 12-inch units are individually controllable to allow for continuous streams of color and specialized lighting effects. iColor Cove is also used to illuminate a cove in the home theater’s silver leaf ceiling, which reflects gradually shifting colors to accent the exotic décor and Lassen’s own artwork. The long-life, low-maintenance nature of the LED light fixtures allows their installation in such difficult-to-reach or concealed spaces.

Cordrey designed customized lighting effects that are stored and triggered by iPlayer® 2 with a simple Controller Keypad interface. As a result, the homeowner can easily choose the desired lighting effect to match his mood, entertain guests, or simply relax. Programmed effects include serene solid colors, reverse color fades, cross color fades, and a subtle “sparkle” effect.
