Centennial Waterfall at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA

In January of 2008, the Oklahoma Centennial Commission and sponsors dedicated an 11-foot-tall, 24-foot-wide illuminated waterfall at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. The waterfall is enlivened with colorful lighting shows produced by Philips LED lighting technologies.

Kelly Caviness of Caviness Landscape & Design wanted to create a park-like atmosphere for fairgoers. Working with lighting consultant Eric Stewart with Smith Lighting, Caviness chose Philips C-Splash 2 – a rugged submersible LED light fixture – to create the desired effects. Five C-Splash 2 units were placed underneath the waterfall and four units were located within the pool to project colorful light shows upon the waterfall and within the pool. LED fixtures were chosen for the project due to their low maintenance requirements, low energy consumption and inherent capability for digital control – allowing Caviness to generate million of colors and dynamic, color-changing effects with a simple push of a button.Using Philips iPlayer® 2, a compact multiple show storage and playback system, Stewart created shows incorporating static shades of blue, white and aqua, as well as rainbow washes and chases, and holiday-specific shows such as for Christmas and the Fourth of July.

Now Oklahoma City residents have an entertaining water feature to dazzle visitors without leaving their hometown.
