Amara Beach Resort Hotel
Antalya, Turkey
In the Mediterranean city of Antalya on the Turkish coastline, the Amara Beach Resort Hotel treats entertainment-seekers to a pulsating disco with a twist – a mood-altering, color-changing dance floor lit by Color Kinetics’ LED lighting.
The dynamic dance floor is comprised of 32” (80 cm) square glass panels --55 in all. Each panel is illuminated by four 12” (30 cm) lengths of iColor® Cove LT installed end-to-end on opposing sides of the square. Conceptualized by Istanbul-based City Light, the lighting effects are designed to complement the DJ’s wide-ranging musical selections, from moderate tempo to high energy. Effects include both gradual and fast-paced color washes, vibrant fixed colors, chasing rainbows and disco-esque strobe effects. Each panel has the intelligence to be controlled individually, allowing disparate colors or unified designs that span the entire floor.
The City Light design team programmed the light shows with ColorPlay® authoring software and downloaded them to the iPlayer® 2 playback device. A Controller Keypad provides a simple interface to choose any of the eight stored light shows – altering the club’s mood with the push of a button.
In addition to their aesthetic versatility and vast color range, the iColor Cove LT systems proved a practical choice for this subterranean application. Their compact, low-heat nature allows their installation in tight, concealed spaces, and their long source life translates to minimal, if any, maintenance. Unlike conventional light sources, these solid-state lighting systems don’t have fragile, mechanical parts, and are therefore rugged and vibration-resistant underfoot – even beneath a crowd-filled dance floor.
Twisting the night away never looked so good.
