Brookstone Names Color Kinetics "New Vendor of the Year" in Recognition
of its Innovative Full Spectrum Digital Lighting and Exemplary Customer Service
BOSTON
— March 17, 2000 — Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting, continues to receive kudos from the lighting and retail visual display industries for its unique digital color-changing lighting products. Most recently, national specialty retailer Brookstone recognized Color Kinetics as its "New Vendor of the Year" for 1999.
Presented by Brookstone's real estate construction department, the "New Vendor of the Year" award recognizes the vendor having the greatest positive impact on that year's store construction and design efforts. Vendors are nominated based on feedback culled from general contractors, architects, designers and Brookstone executive team members. For 1999, the award's second year, candidates consisted of approximately 10 new vendors. Color Kinetics was honored for the technical and visual innovation of its digital color changing lighting products, as well as for providing exemplary customer service.
Brookstone has used Color Kinetics' award-winning iColor Cove and C-200 fixtures to add futuristic impact to key product displays in a number of its newest retail stores. At its flagship store in the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, the lights wash the store's external marquee with a series of colors, creating energy and movement, and a dynamic chasing rainbow effect makes its way across a large wall of shelving just inside the entrance to the store, drawing customers inside. In addition, a 12 ˝' display column at the front of the store is dramatically up lit with color.
Color Kinetics' innovative lighting products are powered by the company's patented Chromacore® technology, which utilizes microprocessor-controlled red, green and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) to generate over 16.7 million colors and color effects. The cutting-edge Chromacore technology used in the company's products offer a number of advantages over traditional methods of creating colored light and colored lighting effects. In addition to providing a broad spectrum of colors, Chromacore uses little power, has an ultra long life and produces little heat and no noise or UV emissions. The "New Vendor of the Year" award was presented to Color Kinetics at Brookstone's "Annual Contractor Meeting and Awards Dinner."
