to Enhance Music Tracks with Dynamic Color-Changing Light Shows
BOSTON - November 26, 2001- Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of intelligent, LED-based illumination technologies, today announces that it has licensed a form of its patented Chromacore® technology for use in TouchTunes digital music-on-demand jukeboxes, coupling the vibrant color-changing lighting effects made possible by Chromacore with digital music tracks from the TouchTunes library. This technology combination enables the creation of dynamic colored lighting shows that automatically reflect the mood of any jukebox track. Under the terms of the agreement, Color Kinetics technology will be integrated into the TouchTunes Maestro line of digital jukeboxes in two ways: through custom built-in jukebox lighting, and by connecting Color Kinetics' own lighting fixtures to the system via an external port, creating a fully immersive multimedia entertainment experience in spaces of any size.
How does it work? Rest assured that this is not your father's old-fashioned "color organ." Through Chromacore's intelligent signal interpretation, colored lighting effects automatically coordinate with the style and tempo of whatever song is selected by the TouchTunes user, enhancing any style of music with the fresh elements of light and color. Chromacore generates millions of colors and a variety of colored lighting effects using microprocessor-controlled, multi-colored LEDs (light emitting diodes). Through its use of LEDs as an illumination source, Chromacore offers several inherent benefits that make it ideally suited for entertainment applications, including: the ability to generate colored light at any intensity and to respond virtually instantaneously to any level of control data; an ultra-long source life; low power consumption; and extremely low heat output. Built-in intelligence allows Color Kinetics lighting to interact seamlessly with other digital technologies, such as the digital jukebox developed by TouchTunes.
