COLOR KINETICS AUTHORIZES
SKANDALIGHTS AS NEW DISTRIBUTION PARTNER
January 5, 1999 - Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting,
announces that it has signed SkandaLights as an Authorized Master Distributor
for its award-winning series of digital colored lighting products. SkandaLights
expertise in the display building and visual merchandising industries
provides an ideal means of bringing Color Kinetics' breakthrough technology
to these markets.
Color Kinetics lights, powered by a patent-pending technology called Chromacore™,
won major awards including "Architectural Product of the Year" at Lighting
Dimensions International'97, Hot New Show Product at GlobalShop'98, and
"Best New Product of the Year" at Lightfair'98. Chromacore generates colored
light via microprocessor-controlled LEDs (light emitting diodes). Prior
to its advent, colored lighting depended upon a filtering process which
used gels and filters to transform white light into colored light. Chromacore,
and the series of products made possible by it, is advancing lighting
into the digital age.
Color Kinetics lighting products feature a "built in brain" (or microprocessor)
which controls the mixing of red, green and blue, super-bright LEDs. The
combination of the microprocessor and LEDs makes possible the generation
of over 16.7 million colors and color lighting effects such as color cross
fades, color washes, color bumps, strobes or constant colors.
SkandaLights is a leader in the field of exhibit lighting with expertise
in portable/modular systems, pop-up systems and custom designed displays.
The company's agreement with Color Kinetics will extend the potential
of digital colored lighting and Chromacore technology to this field. Skanda2
will work side by side with SkandaLights to make Color Kinetics products
available to those in the retail merchandising market, and together both
companies will explore other possible applications.
