Color Kinetics Delivers on LED Price/Performance Promise; Cuts Prices on All Illumination Products by Up to 55%
SAN FRANCISCO - LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2002 - June 3, 2002 - Celebrating five years of LED innovation, Color Kinetics Incorporated delivers on the promise of LEDs with significant price reductions on all of its award-winning illumination products. In addition, building upon the latest semiconductor advancements and the company's role as the leader in intelligent LED illumination technologies, the company is introducing new products that offer dramatic performance improvements. For example, for a system comparable to the company's original C-200 fixture, Color Kinetics can now deliver a product with five times the intensity at a 55% lower price than five years ago.
As an emerging technology, LEDs are riding the "silicon cost curve" of increased performance for decreased price over time. "Color Kinetics has always championed the idea that the LED price/performance curve would reach a point where it would become competitive with conventional light sources, and the momentum this curve is gaining will speed the adoption of solid state illumination among a wide variety of applications," notes Bill Sims, President and COO of Color Kinetics.
