Color Kinetics Expands Its Line of Full Spectrum Digital Lighting Solutions
With the Next Generation of Computer-Based Controller Tools

LAS VEGAS - LDI 2000 - October 20, 2000 — Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting, continues to break new ground with the introduction today of three new computer-based tools designed to assist users in programming and controlling its digital lighting products. These new tools, including computer hardware and software, expand the Color Kinetics line of complete digital lighting solutions, which encompasses everything from light show authoring software, lighting fixtures and accessories to show storage and play back devices.

  • Smart Jack 3 is a compact device that allows computer control of one or more Color Kinetics full spectrum digital lights via the standard USB port on computers. By using the USB port, Smart Jack 3 delivers a true DMX data stream at a high speed without the need for an external power supply. Also, the included Smart Jack 3 software, which is compatible with Windows 98 or 2000, allows users to run a variety of colored lighting effects, including Color Wash, Cross Fade, Fixed Color, Random Color and Chasing Rainbow. Smart Jack 3 will be available in November through Color Kinetics Authorized Distributors. Color Kinetics plans to announce a Macintosh-compatible version of Smart Jack software at a future date.
  • Configuration Wizard is an easy-to-use tool that helps designers determine which Color Kinetics power supplies and controllers will work best with the Color Kinetics lights they've chosen for an installation. Configuration Wizard is available at no cost on the Color Kinetics web site at www.colorkinetics.com, and is compatible on both Macintosh and PC platforms with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Switch Wizard is a comprehensive, interactive tool that quickly and easily provides the correct switch settings to produce a virtually unlimited range of color-changing effects with Color Kinetics lighting. Users simply input any combination of colors, saturation, speed, and DMX address, and Switch Wizard will swiftly calculate the appropriate setting! Switch Wizard is available for use at no cost on the Color Kinetics Web site at www.colorkinetics.com/support/toolbox/.

Since its founding only three years ago, Color Kinetics has succeeded in creating a totally new category of digital lighting with its patented Chromacore® technology. The company has now successfully expanded its offerings within that category to include not only lighting fixtures and accessories, but also design software tools and controllers. "With the introduction of these exciting new computer- and web-based tools, we continue to bring to life our vision of leading the lighting industry into the technology age," says George Mueller, Co-Founder, CEO and President of Color Kinetics. "We're committed to providing complete digital lighting solutions, as well as the tools necessary to make every installation a success, in order to bring this wonderful technology to all facets of everyday life around the world," he adds.

By introducing these new tools to the crowds of seasoned lighting and design professionals attending LDI 2000, Color Kinetics hopes to parlay its previous success at the show where its flagship C-Series product line was named "Architectural Lighting Product of the Year" upon its industry debut.
