COLOR KINETICS™ iPlayer® PUTS LIGHT SHOW CONTROL
IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND

Digital Light Show Storage and Playback Solution Bucks Convention By Fusing Cutting-Edge Technology and User-Friendly Design - and it's Smaller than a Deck of Cards!

NEW YORK — Lightfair 2000 — May 9, 2000 — Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting, continues to lead the lighting industry into the digital age with the introduction today of iPlayer. The company's newest offering is the first product specifically designed to store and play back light shows created for Color Kinetics Chromacore®-powered digital color-changing lights. This compact device is the perfect solution for users interested in maintaining the integrity and control of their distinctive light show creations at multiple locations.

iPlayer is a complete, easy-to-use light show storage and playback solution housed in a small package that offers a bundle of big benefits for lighting designers. iPlayer contains 2MB of non-volatile, rewriteable memory that stores a dynamic, industry-standard DMX512 stream and runs light shows created for as many as 64 DMX addresses. The automatic restart function of iPlayer means that starting the show is as simple as powering the device. Once powered, light shows stored on iPlayer start from the beginning, so there's no extra step to take at a store opening or if there is a power failure. iPlayer Software 1.0, included with iPlayer, allows users to easily import and edit DMX light shows on a PC and then store them on iPlayer. And, designers may use iPlayer straight out of the box because all the cabling required to connect iPlayer to both a PC and Color Kinetics lights is contained in the package.

iPlayer packs some powerful features into its small design. It is versatile enough to allow users to store and run DMX light shows created either on a professional lighting console or with Color Kinetics' new ColorPlay™ light show authoring software (see press release dated 5/9/00 "Go On, Have Fun --- It's ColorPlay Time!"). A fraction of the size of conventional storage and playback devices, iPlayer fits into a standard courier envelope for easy delivery of light shows to different locations, allowing designers the ability to maintain creative control and achieve consistency of their light show vision - all at a fraction of the cost of similar devices. iPlayer also may be inconspicuously placed in nearly any environment - even mounted directly to many Color Kinetics C-Series lights.

"With the introduction of iPlayer, we've taken another giant leap towards Color Kinetics' mission to provide a complete range of digital lighting solutions," said George Mueller, President and CEO of Color Kinetics. "Before iPlayer, most light show play back options were large and complex - not something you could incorporate into high-style environments. Our product is a more economical and versatile playback solution that can be delivered to multiple locations." Added Mueller, in his characteristic colorful lingo, "And, it's not a huge, honkin' eye sore!"

With iPlayer, delivering light shows to a number of locations has never been easier, or more cost-effective. For instance, a lighting designer for a retail store chain may create a unique light show at a corporate location and store it onto any number of iPlayer devices. The devices may then be sent to individual stores and easily installed and powered, ensuring the lighting designer's original vision for the show is maintained. Changing the show is just as easy because iPlayer can be sent back to the lighting designer who may then store a new show onto iPlayer. And, iPlayer is nearly one-tenth the cost of other playback devices, so it won't cost a small fortune!

With the introduction of iPlayer at Lightfair 2000, Color Kinetics hopes to build on its string of previous successes at the conference, where its C-Series was named "Best New Product of the Year" in 1998, and the company and its iColor™ Cove were honored with the first annual "Roeder Award" at Lightfair '99. Along with the introduction of its ColorPlay light show authoring software, iPlayer expands Color Kinetics full line of digital lighting solutions by joining the company's growing line of lighting controllers.
