COLOR KINETICS EXPANDS ITS ROSTER OF DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTORS MORE THAN 100% IN FIRST HALF OF 2000
Sixteen New Distribution Partners Sign On to Fulfill Worldwide Demand for
Color Kinetics Full Spectrum Digital Lighting Products

LONDON — PLASA 2000 — September 10, 2000 — Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting, today announces the addition of 16 new U.S. and international distribution partners to its growing list of worldwide Authorized Color Kinetics Master Distributors, expanding the company's distribution channel by more than 100% in the first half of 2000 alone. The new distributors, representing all regions of the U.S., as well as Asia, Europe, Latin America, Australia and the Middle East, will offer the full line of award-winning Color Kinetics™ Chromacore®-powered digital lighting products, including fixtures, controllers, enablers, accessories and lighting design software.

The new distributors have caught the excitement surrounding the totally new LED-based category of lighting that Color Kinetics has pioneered. Since its inception in 1997, Color Kinetics has experienced widespread acceptance and demand from a variety of professional lighting industries for its state-of-the-art digital lighting products. The continued growth of the company's distribution channel proves this demand shows no signs of slowing down. The reason: Color Kinetics' innovative, patented Chromacore technology, which uses microprocessor-controlled red, green and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) to generate over 16.7 million colors and a variety of color-changing effects. In addition, Chromacore-powered products are compact, use no moving parts, offer an ultra-long source life, consume very little power, and produce little heat and no noise or UV emissions. All of Color Kinetics lighting products offer onboard control, or may be controlled using an industry standard DMX512 lighting console, a PC, or Color Kinetics own line of easy-to-use controllers.

The benefits of Color Kinetics Chromacore-powered products and the environments in which they can be used are virtually limitless, as exemplified by the company's growing customer portfolio, which includes Disney, Sony Loews, Sheraton, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Rainforest Cafe, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Harrods, Brookstone, Limited Inc., Nine West, Saks Fifth Avenue and Boston Symphony Hall, just to name a few. "The variety of lighting market expertise these new distributors bring to Color Kinetics will enable us to continue expanding the markets in which Color Kinetics products are used," notes company President and CEO George Mueller. "This is an exciting time of growth for Color Kinetics, and with the help of our distribution channel, we can truly create a more bright and colorful world - literally all over the world."

Signing on as Authorized Color Kinetics Master Distributors in the U.S. are ten companies: Bradfield Stage Lighting, Tennessee; City Lighting Products, Missouri; CM Buck and Associates, Indiana; Cooper Electric, New Jersey; Curtis H. Stout Company, Arkansas; Maurice Electric, Washington, DC; Pacific Lighting, Seattle; RC Lurie, Phoenix; Rexel-Elgee, Columbus, Ohio; and Top Shelf Distributors, Chicago. Six international companies have been added to the Color Kinetics distribution channel: Adawliah, Kuwait; ALS, Japan; Grupo Dug, Mexico; Ideal Electric, Singapore; Lights & Color (Lightpower), Germany; and Primesite, Australia.
