VEGAS "WINNING STREAK": C-SERIES WITH SYNCHRONIZER EARNS "BUYER'S CHOICE" AWARD
AT EXHIBITOR '99
February 18, 1999Las Vegas, NVAt the beginning of the 20th
century, the cry of opportunity was "go west young man!" Today, the cry
is more likely to be "go digital young man," and the lighting industry
is no exception. Digital, and in particular digital colored lighting,
is the hottest thing to hit lighting since Edison. And when it comes to
hot, nothing beats the record of a young upstart out of Boston, a firm
which bills itself in the frontier spirit as "the pioneer of full spectrum
digital lighting." Color Kinetics, the company which single-handedly ignited
the digital colored lighting revolution, is on a winning streak without
peer.
The latest honor came at Exhibitor'99, held February 14-18 at Bally's
Las Vegas, where the firm earned its fourth major award in just over a
year. Nominated by key distributor SkandaLights, the Color Kinetics "C-Series
with Synchronizer" earned top honors as a "Buyers Choice" award winner
at the show.
SkandaLights is a firm which knows a little bit about trade shows. In
fact, some might say it was playing with home field advantage at a show
known by insiders as "the trade show industry's trade show." But the ten
year veteran had never before won a Buyers Choice Award, and SkandaLights
President Walt Filipowicz knows he's on to something big with Color Kinetics
products.
"Color has been the biggest buzzword in the industry for the past year,"
notes Filipowicz. In our industry you have about three seconds to attract
someone's attention, and Color Kinetics' products go a long way towards
creating the right environment to not only capture but also to focus people's
attention on the products being sold. We've created a new challenge for
designers: to harness the new capabilities of this lighting, which I like
to call "the illusion of movement." In addition to a riveting visual look,
these products are ideal for the trade show and display applications because
they are compact, use little power, produce virtually no heat or UV emissions
and have an ultra long source life.
The C-Series with Synchronizer is one of Color Kinetics newest product
offerings. With the "plug and play" programming that the Synchronizer
provides, designers can create numerous lighting effects. One of the most
fascinating is something that might is described as "a chasing rainbow"
in which colors are generated in a synchronized sequence that washes up
and down the bank of lights. For designers, it's literally "magic in a
lamp" that even Aladdin might have coveted.
The C-Series with Synchronizer is built around the firm's core technology,
a patent pending process called Chromacore. One of the things that
make Chromacore products different is that this light actually "has a
brain". The technology combines a microprocessor and super bright red,
green and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) which the microprocessor mixes
to produce its magic. In an industry where the standard for years was
synthetic production of color by combining white light and plastic filters,
don't be surprised if you see it againÑand again in the future.
