Color Kinetics Introduces ColorPlay 1.8, Making it Even Easier to Create Amazing Displays of Color and Light for Intelligent LED Illumination Fixtures
BOSTON - July 16, 2002 - Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of intelligent LED illumination technologies, today announces the release of ColorPlay® 1.8, the next generation of its groundbreaking light show authoring software for use with Color Kinetics intelligent LED illumination fixtures. With ColorPlay 1.8, it's even easier to create intricate shows of gorgeous colored light and dazzling lighting effects, all at a fraction of the cost and time associated with other light show authoring methods. Existing ColorPlay users will be impressed by the increased functionality and enhanced features of ColorPlay 1.8, and new users will wonder how they lived without it!
Since its original launch in 2000, ColorPlay has gained a loyal following and reputation as an intuitive, user-friendly method of creating dynamic light shows for Color Kinetics intelligent LED illumination products. ColorPlay has been heralded by lighting designers everywhere as a welcome departure from conventional lighting design software because it enables users to have professional-quality light shows up and running in minutes without the need for technical programming skills or complex, expensive lighting boards. With ColorPlay 1.8, these benefits have been enhanced and then some! With menus written in plain English, ColorPlay uses a graphical timeline-based show management system and includes a vast array of lighting effects and functions. ColorPlay outputs DMX512 data, which when used in conjunction with Color Kinetics lights, enables the creation of smooth, fluid lighting effects. New features on ColorPlay 1.8 include:
Show Simulation feature incorporated on the Mapping screen so designers can get a feel for how the show will look in its intended layout, without having to physically be there;
Seek Slider in Show Simulation controls allowing access to a specific portion of the show;
Additional file management and show trigger capabilities;
Icons for all new Color Kinetics fixtures contained in the fixture library, including ColorBlast® 6, ColorBlast 12, ColorBurst 4, ColorBurst 6, and iColor® Accent;
Two new exciting lighting effects in the library: Streak and Sweep;
Addition of transparency option in most effects allowing for smoother transition between effects;
Improved download screen allowing users full access to iPlayer® 2 functionality; and
Integration with WYSIWYG Perform 3D rendering program from CAST Software.
The ability to import ColorPlay 1.8 shows into the WYSIWYG Perform software package is an exciting development for lighting show designers. WYSIWYG is a 3D rendering software program enabling designers to plot environments and lighting designs, while offering a comprehensive library of fixtures and accessories from which to choose - now including all Color Kinetics intelligent illumination fixtures. Providing designers with the ability to import their ColorPlay 1.8 creations into their WYSIWYG renderings allows them to demonstrate their shows in a realistic, three-dimensional setting before installation is complete - all without leaving their office!
ColorPlay 1.8 is part of Color Kinetics' full line of intelligent LED-based illumination solutions, ranging from light show authoring software and compact light show storage and playback devices to LED lighting fixtures and power/data supplies and accessories.
