Color Kinetics' intelligent solid-state lighting systems surpass
the limitations of conventionally illuminated signage

Las Vegas, NV - International Sign Expo - March 31, 2005 - Color Kinetics Incorporated (NASDAQ: CLRK), a pioneer in the design, marketing and licensing of intelligent solid-state lighting systems and technologies, today at the International Sign Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada demonstrated the diverse and growing uses of its technology in signage applications.

Among the recent signage installations to leverage Color Kinetics' technology are Sunset + Vine in Hollywood, California, Eaton Centre in Toronto, Canada, Capitol Mall in Istanbul, Turkey, Grandview Hotel in Macau, China, Sony Style in Taipei, Taiwan, and Lacoste boutiques in the US.

Advertisers, sign builders, and designers are increasingly choosing intelligent solid-state lighting as a highly controllable, durable and low-maintenance alternative to conventional light sources, which are more costly over the lifetime of the system, and lack the creative freedom of digital control. According to a lighting survey published this month by Signs of the Times magazine, the gap between neon and LEDs in custom signage is narrowing, with use of LEDs doubling from 2002 to 2004. The survey also cites a new preference for red LEDs over red neon.

"After considering multiple solutions, including neon, we determined that LEDs were the most reliable light source for this large-scale application," said Charlie Stroud of Arrow Sign Company, which illuminated the landmark sign at Hollywood's Sunset + Vine with more than 450 feet of iColor® Accent. "Color Kinetics' iColor Accent units and flexible control options proved to be an elegant solution for generating the desired effects without the limitations of conventional lighting methods, such has high operating costs and frequent servicing."

Color Kinetics' intelligent solid-state lighting technology is widely used to enhance and distinguish signage, storefronts, and facades of some of today's most highly recognizable retailers, hotel chains, corporations and entertainment venues, among others. As demonstrated at the International Sign Expo, these systems support applications that range from back- or front-lighting signs, illuminating channel and reverse channel letters, casting wall washing effects, and enabling large-scale digital facades that display scrolling text, images and video.

Unlike conventional light sources, Color Kinetics' systems require no gels or filters to produce color, and their compact size allows for discrete installation. Mitigating safety and installation concerns, the solid-state systems provide a low voltage alternative and don't use fragile glass like neon lights - two key considerations for sign builders.
