COLOR KINETICS DEMONSTRATES BREAKTHROUGH POWER SOLUTION AND INNOVATIVE NEW SYSTEMS AT PLASA 2004

Maintains competitive advantage with industry's broadest portfolio of intelligent solid-state lighting systems for both traditional and completely new applications

LONDON, UK - PLASA 2004 - September 13, 2004 -Color Kinetics Incorporated (NASDAQ: CLRK) today leveraged its presence at PLASA, a premier entertainment technology tradeshow, to showcase a wide range of innovative new systems and technologies, including Powercore™ -- a patent-pending breakthrough in digital power processing technology that increases efficiency, lowers the overall cost, and eases installation of intelligent solid-state lighting systems by integrating power and data management within the fixture. Color Kinetics also demonstrated new products that exploit the increasing advantages of LEDs as a digital light source in both traditional and completely new lighting environments - from intelligent replacement lamps for commonly used MR16 fixtures, to modular panels with individually controlled LEDs that enable low-resolution video.

"Color Kinetics' commitment to innovation is reflected by our diverse and growing Lighting Systems line, the increasing adoption of our technologies by OEM and Licensing customers, and our ability to develop and commercialize new technologies, like Powercore, that will enable the next generation of intelligent solid-state lighting solutions," said George Mueller, Chairman and CEO, Color Kinetics. "We're pleased to demonstrate our latest innovations at PLASA, among the entertainment technology industry, where the applications of intelligent solid-state lighting are increasingly prevalent."

Lighting Systems highlights at the show include:

  • The introduction of Powercore; a complete line voltage power solution that supports next-generation solid-state lighting systems, increasing system efficiency and easing installation.
  • The launch of iColor® Cove MX Powercore; the newest Powercore-based system and highest-intensity member of the popular iColor Cove® line, designed to vibrantly illuminate alcoves, accent areas and other tight spaces without the drawbacks of conventional light sources.
  • The PLASA debut of iColor Module FX; a completely new lighting medium and modular panel for sophisticated designs that require singularly controllable points of light, leveraging Color Kinetics' Chromasic™ microchip to enable scrolling text and images, video, and animations across small or large-scale walls and surfaces.
  • The PLASA debut of iColor MR g2; an intelligent, high-performance replacement lamp that generates saturated bursts of color from standard MR16 fixtures and sockets, including common tracks and pendant fixtures. It features more than three times the intensity of its predecessor, iColor MR.
  • The PLASA debut of ColorCast™ 14; a compact, linear fixture with maximized intensity for lighting large alcoves and archways, featuring Powercore for greater operational efficiency and ease of installation.
OEM and Licensing highlights at the show include:
  • Soft-LED™; a dynamic light drapery for entertainment applications, such as concerts, theaters and corporate events, developed by Color Kinetics OEM customer Main Light Industries. It applies Color Kinetics' patented technology to enable precise control of individual LED sources, allowing the creation of complex light shows that may span thousands of individually controlled LED nodes.
  • Chroma-Q™ Color Block; a modular block of four DMX-controlled color-mixing LED lights developed by Spectrum Manufacturing with technology under license from Color Kinetics. It is slated for September availability and will be distributed by A.C. Lighting in North America and Europe.
  • Digital Light Engines; a growing selection of integrated OEM assemblies based on Color Kinetics' proven technologies. These include LED-based lighting modules in various shapes and sizes, supported by comprehensive training, reference materials, and services to ensure the successful integration of Color Kinetics' technology into existing fixtures or completely new fixture designs.
