COLOR KINETICS DRIVES ADOPTION OF
LED ILLUMINATION IN TV INDUSTRY

Color Kinetics' LED-based solutions efficiently enhance the sets of high-profile
television events and programs

Boston, MA - August 6, 2003 - Reflecting the surging demand for its solutions within the television production industry, Color Kinetics Incorporated today announced a string of high-profile events and programs for which its intelligent LED illumination systems enabled vibrant, visual effects. The company also announced a recently signed agreement to bring dynamic, colored lighting effects to the set of the world's #1 syndicated game show, Wheel of Fortune.

The wide-ranging capabilities of Color Kinetics' LED-based systems appeared in the following programs:

  • 57th Annual Tony Awards® (CBS): The Color Kinetics-illuminated backdrop from Hairspray on Broadway was replicated for a live performance from the hit musical.
  • IMX (FUSE TV): Color Kinetics' systems add color and flair to the FUSE TV studio for IMX (Interactive Music Xchange), a live broadcast that blends video games and interactivity with pop music and television.
  • MTV Video Music Awards (MTV): iColor® Cove illuminated set elements including walkways, stairways and ramps for a live 'N Sync performance.
  • Nashville Star (USA Network): iColor Accent illuminated the set with seamless runs of color, enhancing the stage where contestants performed live to win a major label country music recording contract.
  • NBA All-Star 2003 (TNT Network): iColor Accent systems framed the stage with vivid color displays during player introductions and musical performances.
  • Star Search (CBS): ColorBlast® systems washed the set with colored light and customized effects that uniquely enhanced each performance.
"We were thrilled with the impact of Color Kinetics' iColor Accent systems on stage and on camera during the All-Star festivities," said Kevin Dobstaff, Director of Production Development, NBA Entertainment. "Based on their range of colors and effects, plus the intelligent control capabilities, we look forward to using them often in our future productions."

Color Kinetics' LED-based lighting solutions are ideal for television applications that call for highly efficient, low-heat, noise-free systems that can generate saturated color on camera and allow for customizable effects in set design. Unlike conventional light sources, Color Kinetics' systems require no gels or filters to add colored accents to background and fill lighting for added dimension. The compact size and absence of heat and noise allow versatility in positioning the systems on set. On top of these practical benefits, LED-based systems enable a new realm of creative possibilities for set and lighting designers by marrying the inherently digital nature of LEDs with the intelligence of a microprocessor, generating high, colored output with sophisticated control. The efficiency and aesthetic capabilities make intelligent LED illumination the ideal solution for designers, producers, technicians, and on- air talent alike.
