GEORGE MUELLER RECOGNIZED BY ERNST & YOUNG AS FINALIST FOR
NEW ENGLAND ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR®

Color Kinetics Co-founder, Chairman & CEO Named to Prestigious List for Second Consecutive Year

Boston, MA - June 25, 2003 - In recognition of his entrepreneurial vision and leadership, George Mueller, Co-founder, Chairman & CEO of Color Kinetics Incorporated, was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year®. The prestigious, annual award recognizes entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, hard work and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures. Award recipients will be announced at the 17th Annual Entrepreneur of the Year® Awards Banquet on Thursday, June 26 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

Mueller is a seasoned inventor and entrepreneur whose expertise lies in recognizing disruptive technologies and creating successful ventures to realize their potential. Among his many achievements, Mueller raised nine rounds of private equity and venture capital totaling $65 million, much of it completed in a challenging economy. Today his companies are the subjects of case studies at prestigious academic institutions such as Harvard, Babson College, and the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and he devotes significant time to fostering entrepreneurship among the academic community.

Mueller co-founded Color Kinetics in 1997, creating a new category of digital lighting technology that's poised to disrupt the $40 billion global lighting market and eventually replace the household bulb. He's the author of ten U.S. and international patents and dozens of patent filings pertaining to Color Kinetics' core technology. The company's first product prototypes are on permanent display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, and its current technology powers thousands of innovative lighting installations worldwide, from the Broadway production of Hairspray, to the Cathay Financial Dome in Taipei, to Harrods in London, and the Basketball Hall of Fame here in Massachusetts.
