ALL THE WORLD'S A "COLORFUL" STAGE

Color Kinetics Makes the World a More Colorful Place With the Addition of 12 New International Distributors

BOSTON - January 22, 2001 - Year 2000 proved to be a great year for the international arm of Color Kinetics Incorporated, the pioneer of full spectrum digital lighting. Today the company announces the signing of 12 new international distributors during the last half of 2000, bringing the total number of international Color Kinetics distributors to 29. As Authorized Color Kinetics Master Distributors, these companies will offer Color Kinetics' innovative line of full spectrum professional digital lighting solutions. These new distributors join the company's expanding list of U.S. and international distribution partners, signaling an era of continued growth and success for the company both in the U.S. and abroad. The 12 new distributors represent all regions of the international professional lighting community, including Europe, Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and South America.

With the development of its patented Chromacore™ technology, Color Kinetics has revolutionized the way colored lighting is created, and has built global excitement for the possibilities available with this new digital lighting technology. Chromacore technology uses microprocessor-controlled red, green and blue LEDs (light emitting diodes) to generate over 16.7 million colors and a variety of color-changing effects. In addition to providing a virtually unlimited lighting palette, Chromacore-powered products are compact, use no moving parts, offer an ultra-long source life, consume very little power, and produce little heat and no noise or UV emissions. All of Color Kinetics professional lighting products offer onboard control, or may be controlled using an industry standard DMX512 lighting console, a PC, or Color Kinetics own line of easy-to-use controllers. These 12 new international distributors will help to spread this digital lighting revolution to new lands by offering the full line of Color Kinetics' award-winning LED-based professional digital lighting products, including fixtures, controllers, enablers, accessories and lighting design software.

"There are so many exciting and vibrant -- not to mention colorful -- urban centers across the world that are discovering Color Kinetics' ground-breaking and cutting-edge technology," says George Mueller, CEO and co-founder of Color Kinetics. "The benefits of Color Kinetics Chromacore-powered products and the environments in which they can be used are practically limitless, and we're excited to work with these new international distribution partners to further develop unique uses of our products. As we progress into 2001, we'll look to expand our international presence even further with additional distribution partnerships across the globe," he adds.

The 12 international companies signing on as Authorized Color Kinetics Master Distributors are: Alto (Korea), Asas Lights (Malaysia), DMS (Turkey), Exton (Iceland), Feixa (Spain), Helsinki Lighting Company (Finland), Impact (France), Light & Motion (Austria), NAXA (Brazil), Soundabout (Cyprus), Sound Support (Belgium), and Stockholm Lighting (Sweden).
